Colombia has been presenting a significant increase in cases of covid-19. According to the Ministry of Health, between June 24 and 30, there were reports 23,827 new infections and 100 people died from the virus in the country.

(Colombia, the country in Latin America that has best managed the pandemic).

In Bogotá, one of the areas where the number of de caseyes, 8,880 were registered during the last week of June, followed by Valle del Cauca with 3,423 cases, Antioquia (1,960) and Barranquilla (1,942).

The National Institute of Health (INS) stated that in view of this situation, caused by the increase in Omicron lineage BA.5 circulationColombians must take extreme biosecurity measures.

The health authorities insist that the constant hand washing and, especially, the use of face masks in “closed and poorly ventilated spaces”.

(End of the health emergency in the country, what’s next?).

“The use of the mask is rational and cannot be abandoned. If I am in a crowd, I wear my mask and protect myself from all respiratory viruses, not just COVID-19. If I have respiratory symptoms, I put on my face mask,” said Martha Ospina, general director of the INS.
