Covid-19 report: number of infections lowers the threshold of 2,000 and reaches 1,700 new cases

In a new daily report delivered by the Ministry of Health regarding the country’s situation on covid-19, 1,700 new cases were registered, reaching a positivity of 3.55% at the country level in the last 24 hours.

Regarding the number of deaths, the DEIS reported the death of 12 people associated with covid-19 in the last 24 hours, reaching 38,161 deaths since the arrival of the pandemic in the country.

So far, 1,747,065 infections have been registered, of which 13,592 patients are in the active stage and 1,690,773 have recovered from the virus. The daily positivity in the Metropolitan Region is 2% and five regions register a positivity equal to or less than 2%.

The variation of new confirmed cases at the national level is -5% and 16% for the comparison of seven and 14 days, respectively. Meanwhile, six regions decreased their new cases in the last seven days and one did so in the last two weeks.

According to sampling, the regions with the highest positivity in the last week are Aysén, Valparaíso, Coquimbo and Los Lagos. Meanwhile, the Aysén region has the highest current incidence rate per 100,000 inhabitants, followed by the Atacama, Los Lagos and Biobío regions.

To date, 654 people are hospitalized in Intensive Care Units, of which 559 are on mechanical ventilation support. Regarding the Integrated Health Network, there is a total of 203 critical beds available for the patient who requires it, regardless of the region where they are.

With regard to the Health Residences, we have 49 accommodation areas, with 4,730 total beds. The real occupation nationwide is 59%, leaving a total of 1,552 beds available to be used.
