In the state of Sucre, the public consultation of the Law on Workers with Disabilities began, which will contemplate 26 articles that will provide better comprehensive benefits to this sector of the population in the workplace.
The launch of this consultation was carried out in the vicinity of the Gran Mariscal de Ayacucho museum in the city of Cumaná, and was chaired by the representative of the Comprehensive Social Development Commission of the National Assembly (AN), deputy Marglevys de La Rosatogether with the president of the Legislative Council of the state of Sucre (CLES), Jusmary Mendoza, representatives of the institutions for the protection of people with disabilities and the system of missions and large missions in the eastern entity.
De la Rosa explained that the national consultation will be held until November 6 of this year. He indicated that the training teams formed by the AN will be deployed in the 15 municipalities of the Sucre region, in order to obtain proposals from workers with disabilities who will participate in this public debate.
In this regard, he stressed that the parliamentary agenda instructed by the National Government will guarantee social justice, inclusion, protection, defense and comprehensive care for people with special needs.
“We are working as a team for the protection of our people and especially for the inclusion, respect and fulfillment of the rights in the workplace and public services of people with disabilities,” explained deputy De la Rosa.
He assured that, with the legal instrument, people with disabilities will be offered job immobility in the event of any accident during the exercise of their work functions, the opportunity to enjoy a decent and productive job with equal social rights, whose law, he explained, will be applied in all public and private work spaces in the territory.
For her part, the legislator Yusmary Mendoza, president of the CLES, pointed out that the public debate will allow reviewing and proposing new proposals for all public policies for the care of people with disabilities in terms of health, food and respect in all sectors of the community. basic services, specifically in public transport.
Law will protect 12,600 people
In this context, the state director of the José Gregorio Hernández Mission stressed that the law will protect some 12,600 people with disabilities certified by the mission throughout the eastern territory, organized into thirty-nine social movements with special visual, auditory needs. and physical motors.
In turn, Douglas Hernández, director of the Movimiento Somos Venezuela (MSV), stressed that with this new legal mechanism to protect vulnerable people, Venezuela is positioned as the “number one” country in the world in protecting and ensuring the rights of people with disabilities, with the creation of projects that guarantee their inclusion and social security.
“Venezuela in terms of development and protection for people with disabilities advances and continues to position itself as the first country in the world to strengthen equality for all,” he said.
They request the incorporation of 10% of people with disabilities
Ronny Zabala, state coordinator of the united socialist movement for people with disabilities, stressed that one of the proposals to be requested is the inclusion of 10% of people with disabilities in the workplace.
In addition, he mentioned the need to improve the conditions of accessibility to work sites, since many do not have infrastructures that guarantee access to the facilities.
«In the case of people with motor difficulties like me, there are facilities where we do not have access to both the bathroom and the building itself. This is also the case with visual companions”, Zabala pointed out.
