Congresses of Colombia and Venezuela work to restore bilateral relations

In the middle of the road to reestablish relations between Colombia and Venezuelathe presidents of the parliaments of both countries had a meeting in which coordinated support to resume relationships especially in the commercial and diplomatic field.

Jorge Rodriguezpresident of the National Assembly Venezuelan, spoke with Roy Barreras (chairman of Colombian Senate) and it was agreed that they will advance in different elements to reinforce the friendship between both nations.

The idea is that the work plan is aligned with a schedule to be established between the Venezuelan and Colombian foreign ministries. In this it is added that there will be a call of foreign policy committees from both countries, boards of parliaments and special commissions congressmen who represent the border area.

Although the work schedule has not been completedbetween the two countries there is already a pedestrian flow and an eventual meeting between Armando Benedetti (designated ambassador of Colombia in Venezuela) and his Venezuelan counterpartFelix Plasencia.

The meeting between the presidents of both parliaments takes place in line with the plan announced by the Colombian government of Gustavo Petro in which it is expected to resume and improve relations with Venezuela after their deterioration and eventual breakup in 2019.
