The Venezuelan Observatory of Social Conflict (OVCS) published this Tuesday, July 26, a report in which it recorded the activity of protests during the first six months of 2022, detecting that from January to June 3,892 protests were recorded, of which 1,642 were related to the demand for better wages.
When comparing the global number of street activities registered in the same period of 2021, there is an increase of 499 more demonstrations during the first half of 2022.
According to the sections of the OVCS, 2,856 protests related to the category of demands for Economic, Social, Cultural and Environmental Rights (DESCA) were documented in the first half of the year, being 73% of the total of all the demonstrations that were counted. .
They warn that the labor protests, which demand better wage claims, are the ones that have occurred the most so far this year and that it is a trend that has been repeated since 2021. In second place were the demonstrations to demand respect for rights civil and political, accounting for 1,036 of this type of actions mainly due to disagreements in the appointment of magistrates to the Supreme Court of Justice, human rights violations and policies of the Executive.

Bolívar was the state that registered the largest number of protests during the first half of 2022, accounting for 567, followed by Lara (473), Anzoátegui (289), Capital District (231), Aragua (187), Miranda (180) and Sucre. (178).
The protests for labor demands increased in the second quarter of the year due to the implementation of the Onapre instructions, just as retirees and pensioners have been active in 460 street activities throughout the country.
Of the 3,892 documented demonstrations in the national territory, 2,146 protests were combined, which represents 55% of the total registered, as well as evidence that 2,676 actions were in concentrations.
The OVCS documented 431 gasoline protests throughout the country, which, when compared to the same period in 2021, are approximately 30 more protests, when 401 protests were registered in the national territory.
Lara was the scene where there were more street activities for gasoline with 216, followed by Falcón (24), Portuguesa (24), Trujillo (19), Aragua (18), Nueva Esparta (16) and Sucre (16).
