The president of the National Council for Persons with Disabilities (Conapdis) and of the José Gregorio Hernández Mission, Soraida Ramírez, said that the entity is working to strengthen social policies for persons with disabilities in the country.
During an interview with the Buena Vibra program, which is broadcast by Venezolana de Televisión, he indicated that “December 3, the International Day of Persons with Disabilities is commemorated, the important thing is the process of raising awareness of persons with disabilities. We are working to elevate that culture, that love, respect, and dignity of people with disabilities.”
He stated that this year, the institution developed the inspection process, “we have a pilot plan in the states of Aragua, Miranda and the Capital District, where more than two thousand companies have been visited, with the aim of working on accessibility, labor inclusion and good treatment for people with disabilities.
Ramírez pointed out that Venezuela is the only country with 5% inclusion, the highest in Latin America, “we know that there is a lot to do on the issue of inclusion. The institution has 49 certification offices in the country. We are going to be inaugurating three more offices, in the states of Miranda, Carabobo, Yaracuy”.
He explained that the importance of these offices resides in “the registration of the person with disabilities, they are granted a disability certificate, it is not just having a card, it will also allow us as an institution, as a government, to manage statistics, which They are the most frequent types of disabilities in Venezuela, the causes and thus point out the interviews”.
The president of Conapdis also highlighted that “the Plan for the Deployment of Love in Action is carried out in conjunction with the Mission System.”
He informed that until December 9 they will be deployed in different activities, with the support of the Ombudsman’s Office, the Public Defense, the Public Ministry, the Office of the Presidency, the Ministries of Health and Education.

He explained that for the José Gregorio Hernández Mission, “this year they delivered nine thousand technical aids, totally free, which facilitates the independent life of people.”
When asked about public policies of the National Government, Ramírez indicated that the purpose is to “elevate culture and prevent disability. We are working on positive law, which includes people with disabilities who have been trained in the labor field”.
