The Executive Director of the National Forestry Corporation (Conaf), Christian Little, said that the company that owns the “Ten Tanker” apologized for the operational failures that have forced the aircraft to keep its work suspended.
“The day before yesterday, when it had the first failure, the CEO of the company, along with the representative in Latin America, went to my office and apologized for the case and explained in detail what had happened,” Little said at one point. after the creation of a new Disaster Risk Committee (COGRID).
The official added that “they were a little embarrassed that the same thing should happen,” referring to the second operational failure presented by the plane designed exclusively for firefighting.
“When you rent this type of machinery, what you want is for it to work when there is a fire. So, in any case, that is also part of what we have established in the contract with the company regarding the hours that, effectively, , we cancel,” he added.
It is worth mentioning that, after 20 uninterrupted hours of intense work, the Ten Tanker plane was once again operational, and today it made its first discharge during the morning in the Casablanca 3 forest fire in the Ninhue commune, Ñuble Region, which has an affectation of 9,200 hectares.
Yesterday the aircraft registered a new failure in the same valve of engine 1 that had already had problems, so the mechanics decided to leave it on the ground. The technical tests during the whole day and night of yesterday, bringing the engine up to 93% of its power, allowed it to be able to fly again to fight in the accidents in the central-south zone of the country.
After its first flight today, the unloading plan will be planned for the next few hours, in accordance with emergencies in the Ñuble, Biobío and La Araucanía regions.
