On Thursday, February 17, it transpired that the City Hall had donated t-shirts and backpacks to the Broad Front for a “Yes” para-walk scheduled for March 6.
The mayor of Montevideo, Carolina Cosse, said that it was a “mistake of a person” which was corrected, added that it was without authorization and ordered that the donation not be made.
For his part, the coordinator of the Secretary of Physical Education, Sports and Recreation, of the Municipality of Montevideo, Marcelo Signorelli, resigned from his position for being responsible for the frustrated donation.
Complaint
In this sense, the group of Colorado mayors of the Departmental Board of Montevideo decided to file a complaint with the Attorney General’s Office for acts “with a criminal appearance” and that the corresponding Prosecutor’s Office “determine the responsibility of the people involved and, eventually, apply the sanctions ”.
While the departmental president of the National Party, Laura Raffo, said that the incident is “extremely serious and cannot be minimized.”
