This Thursday, the Scientific, Criminal and Criminal Investigation Corps (Cicpc) announced a reward of 100 thousand dollars for those who provide information on the whereabouts of Edmundo González Urrutia in case he sets foot on Venezuelan territory again.
The authorities point to him as a key figure in destabilization attempts against the State after the presidential elections of July 28.
The opposition extremist faces accusations of serious crimes, such as conspiracy, complicity in violent acts, usurpation of functions and money laundering. According to the Attorney General’s Office, González led actions aimed at ignoring State institutions, in addition to promoting chaos in the country, for which an arrest warrant has already been issued against him.
On December 20, the Government of Spain confirmed having granted political asylum to González, who left Venezuela after recognizing the ruling of the Supreme Court of Justice (TSJ) that validated the victory of Nicolás Maduro. However, once in Spain he denied the agreement, which led to the disclosure of evidence that denied it.
The reward is announced in a context of rumors about González’s supposed return to Venezuela for January 10, the date of the presidential inauguration.
