The Communication Research Center of the Universidad Católica Andrés Bello (CIC-UCAB) and the Civil Association Medianalysis, present during the month of May a series of forums that will be a platform to think about communications, public policies and substantive aspects related to the problems that concern the country in terms of freedom of expression, digital gaps and lack of access to information in Venezuela.
This cycle of activities called “Communications Month” will begin next Tuesday, May 3, within the framework of Press Freedom Day, a date that, according to UNESCO, provides the opportunity to evaluate the conditions of freedom of expression. press worldwide, as well as to defend the media from attacks against their independence, in addition to paying tribute to journalists who have lost their lives in the performance of their profession.

The first forum, Freedom of the Press in Venezuela?, will be held around this theme, under the moderation of León Hernández, who is a research professor at the CIC-UCAB and a member of Medianalysis, starting at 10:00 am.
This forum will feature the presentation of the journalist and director of Medianalysis, Andrés Cañizález, and the journalist Luisa Torrealba, researcher and professor of communication rights, journalism, ethics and communication policies at the Central University of Venezuela. “With these events, framed in what we have called the month of communications in Venezuela, the UCAB Social Communication Research Center and Medianalysis offer a platform to think about communications, public policies and substantive aspects related to the problems that affect the country in terms of freedom of expression, digital gaps, lack of access to information, among others,” said the journalist and researcher of the CIC-UCAB, Johanna Pérez.
Pérez added that “we take advantage of this occasion, additionally, to present the different lines of research of the teaching and research staff of the CIC-UCAB, within the framework of its 30th anniversary.”
Next, on Tuesday, May 10 at 11:00 in the morning, the second French May forum will take place. Images and reflections under the moderation of Gustavo Hernández, director of the Communication Research Center (CIC-UCAB) and doctor in Social Sciences from the Central University of Venezuela (UCV).

Likewise, on Tuesday, May 24, at the facilities of the Nohemí Irausquín Auditorium of the Padre Carlos Guillermo Plaza Cultural Center, SJ, Andrés Bello Catholic University, “CIC UCAB: 30 years investigating communications” will be held.
This under the moderation of the lawyer Ana Julia Niño in the company of the panelists Humberto Jaimes, journalist and professor; Carmen América, Postgraduate Coordinator of Literature and professor and researcher at the Simón Bolívar University, together with Johanna Pérez, Edixela Burgos, Gustavo Hernández and León Hernández.
Finally, on Tuesday, May 31, the Internet in Venezuela forum will take place: gaps and difficulties.
