Three years ago Daysi Acevedo decided to push a cart of dreams in which she lovingly prepares interesting cold cold

Given the desire to start her own dream and not make someone else’s come true, Daysi Acevedo at the age of 37, wrapped up in the responsibilities that come of age, decides to start a business that is getting closer to fulfilling her goal every day. objective.

“Chupirul & Raspillao” is like Acevedo’s baby, to whom he has been devoting his time, effort and work for three years now. It is a cold cold cart that goes through the streets cooling customers who dare to be part of this refreshing adventure. “What makes Chupirul different from other cold drinks, in addition to quality control and its presentation, are its interesting flavors and mixtures, which include, in addition to the typical and artificial ones such as raspberry, chewing gum, grape and strawberry, they also offer flavors of fruits produced in the Dominican fields, such as jagua, tamarind, guava, mango, pineapple, passion fruit and coconut, the latter based on natural fruit”, Acevedo tells this medium in a special interview for Caribbean Entrepreneurs.

Drinking a Chupirul is more than having a cold drink, it is an experience that includes music, lights and the kind attention of the ChupyChicas and ChupyChicos, the name with which Daisy has baptized her eight collaborators.

In addition to the sale of the refreshing drink and given the growth of business and demand, the entrepreneur also offers services to parties, which includes cotton candy and popcorn. These services and information about schedules can be confirmed through their social network Instagram, @chupirulyraspillao or their contact number 809-998-8895.
Origin of Chupirul

The idea of creating this business stems from a chance encounter that Acevedo had one day with a traveling ice cream cart, something he considers a coincidence because in those days he was thinking about the next project with which he would once again try to get ahead. Well, before Chupirul, he had a first attempt with a small restaurant but it did not work out.

“I started a small restaurant, I lasted a year and six months, it didn’t fit me. I had many debts left, and after I paid off the debts with my other job, I began to think about a new project, then one day I passed by a place, I saw a cart of cold cold and I said: ‘I’m going to put a cart of cold cold’”, adding that his idea was to make his, make a difference.

Another circumstance that led to the creation of the business was the responsibility of supporting his family financially. Acevedo is the mother of two children, one of them with a special condition, and she also felt the commitment and desire to help her low-income parents, but despite her setbacks and vicissitudes, that never stopped her.

15 kilometers pushing a dream

Introduced with the phrase that “when you start a business you have to take many risks”, Daisy stressed that one of the most difficult things she had to face was challenging her physical build, being a woman she dared to go ahead with this project that in addition to willingness requires a lot of force.

When it started, I was practically alone. According to her narration, she traveled 15 kilometers every day passing through the vicinity of Villa Juana, El Capotillo, Simón Bolívar, Ciudad Nueva and Santa Bárbara.

“15 kilometers that included hills and streets that were difficult to navigate, pushing and pedaling a cart that, with the ice and the bottles, weighed around 300 pounds. Apart from that, listening to comments like ‘you are a woman’, ‘find yourself a husband to support you’ and a number of other things”.

The negative comments that he heard did not come only from people on the street, but also from the family. Her own parents even asked her if she was going crazy because of the kind of business she was hers and what it entailed, but she understood that it was because they didn’t see it the same way she did. “When you have an idea, if another person doesn’t have it, you can’t pretend that it will be accepted because they won’t understand, so that was one of the most difficult,” said the entrepreneur who today has four carts working in the streets.

He also revealed that they even stole a cart from him and stopped him.

“It has been three years of a lot of work and effort, they stole a car from me and they have taken the carts to prison because there are places where you do not have permits to travel.”

Name’s origin

It is a combination of two types of cold, the Raspilla they say in other countries the cold, and Chupyrul, a modality of the same cold. “When I started looking for the name I wanted one that no one had and when I researched all the countries they normally have a typical family cold drink, another name, another concept for another type of palate. That’s where I got the idea for the name.”

Message to new entrepreneurs

But all the effort that Chupirul & Raspillao has cost to raise today, have served as lessons and teachings that he shares with other entrepreneurs with the intention that they also overcome the fear of starting or failing.

“Behind the fear is that there is success, you have to undertake, know that nothing is easy and understand that everything is at God’s time, because as much as you beat an hourglass, each granite will fall when it has to fall but it has to be persistent, day to day, night to night.”
