Santo Domingo. The member of the Political Directorate of the People’s Force, César Fernández, described Decree 30-23, issued by the Executive Power, as incoherent. This measure authorizes the importation of firearms and ammunition for civilian and exclusive use by private security companies.
In a message posted on his Twitter account, the political leader criticized the government, saying it was improvised.

Fernández specified that on July 24, 2006, through Decree 309-96, President Leonel Fernández prohibited the importation of firearms, parts and their respective ammunition for individuals. The Armed Forces, National Police and other institutions related to national security were exempt.
Citizen security strategy and weapons
He said that on Monday, March 22, 2021, the government announced to the country the start of the first phase of the Comprehensive Strategy for Security citizen. This measure included removing illegal weapons from the streets and confronting intra-family violence.
