Andrés Velásquez, former governor of Bolívar, was appointed as spokesperson for Cause R to dialogue with the other opposition sectors
The Cause R issued a statement this Tuesday, April 5, in which it proposes the convening of the entire Venezuelan opposition in order to hold primary elections that allow a single candidate to be chosen for the 2024 presidential elections. They suggest that the date no later than January 23, 2023 to carry out this process.
In the letter, that political organization rejects any other consultation that postpones the choice of this person, who in its opinion will have the responsibility of “leading the fight for conditions to defeat the dictatorship and liberate Venezuela.”
Therefore, the Cause appointed the former governor of Bolívar state, Andrés Velásquez, as spokesman for that party to hold meetings with the various sectors of the atomized opposition, starting with the one led by Juan Guaidó, considered by part of the international community as the president in charge of Venezuela. , together with the bases of the party and civil society.
This tent launches three aspects to consider as an offer: One of an economic nature, where it suggests that the confiscated companies be returned and there is a process of opening with both national and international private investment, where a percentage of those royalties go to a “national fund of social Security”.

Secondly, they make the proposal that the minimum wage be raised to the level of the food basket; a new National Central of Workers is created and private investment is promoted in the industrial, tourist and technological fields, which would generate stable jobs.
To conclude, the letter calls for the promotion of a constitutional reform that deepens decentralization, eliminates indefinite reelection, has a double electoral round system, among other things.
The national leader of Causa R, Alfredo Ramos, said that a two-day debate was held within the party to arrive at this statement, and he stressed that the date was chosen, in addition to its significance for democracy, with the purpose of that there is enough time for whoever is chosen as the sole candidate to tour the country and “accumulate forces” to defeat President Nicolás Maduro at the polls.
The issue of the primary elections has been handled by different political platforms for several months, but with greater intensity since the repetition in January of the elections for the governor of the state of Barinas, where the candidate Sergio Garrido won the elections over Jorge Arreaza .
