At a press conference, the leader highlighted the importance of guaranteeing the continuity of ongoing policies.
“The military year begins and there are destinations to assign. There is the replacement of the Air Force commander on February 1st. “We were exchanging files, priority list of promotions for colonels,” he said.
Among the issues addressed, Castaingdebat highlighted social and operational issues. “Also talking about social issues, some that have continuity, such as the housing issue, the ticket issue. “We are conducting a survey of the entire country and the idea is that bilateral meetings will now be enabled between those who are there and those who are going to come and that this does not suffer any stoppage.”
Regarding ongoing purchases, the minister stated: “Those are purchases from the country. We gave all the information that was requested of us, what stage it is in. We were just talking about the tucanos, about the road works that have to be done in Durazno to install the simulator. We were talking about what the OPV process was in, where the first disbursement for the acquisition of radars was also made and other things that are underway and tenders that have already been awarded.”
Regarding the replacement of the highest military authorities, he pointed out that it is an issue that is handled delicately. “It is one of the things that we could do, but we understand it is pertinent to talk to them, who are the ones who are going to be there and not fall into a name-calling,” he pointed out.
The transition in the Ministry of Defense will continue with bilateral meetings so that the incoming management is fully aware of the progress and pending challenges.
