The Uruguayan deputy foreign minister referred in recent hours -through her Twitter account- to information provided by the media that indicated her as linked to the delivery of the Uruguayan passport to Sebastián Marset, when he was still detained in Dubai, United Arab Emirates for having a false Paraguayan passport.
“In the face of press releases, I flatly deny any participation in the process of issuing, delivering or sending Sebastián Marset’s passport to the United Arab Emirates,” said the head of the Foreign Ministry.
The meeting with Balbi for the passport
Carolina Ache Batlle acknowledged, however, that in the month of November 2021, she received Dr. Alejandro Balbi, a person of her knowledge, in her office at the Foreign Ministry, as she usually does with so many people who request an audience.
“Dr. Balbi limited himself to consulting me on the date of shipment of the diplomatic bag, the means by which passports managed through the Consulates of the Republic abroad are usually sent. At no time did he ask me to intervene to speed up any process, ”said Carolina Ache Batlle.
He said that he did not maintain any communication with the Embassy of Uruguay in the United Arab Emirates, nor with its Consular Section.
“Nor did I provide any instructions to the Foreign Ministry services in relation to this case. I reject any rumor about my involvement in this matter,” said the Undersecretary of State.
