Carahue: court leaves driver who transported firearms and ammunition in preventive detention

The Carahue Guarantee Court today decreed the precautionary measure of preventive detention for the Mapuche community member Pablo Valdebenito Huichaqueo, who was arrested on Sunday in Carahue, La Araucanía Region, when he was caught transferring firearms and ammunition in a vehicle.

In the framework of the formalization hearing, held this Monday, Valdebenito was charged with the crimes of illegally carrying firearms, illegally carrying ammunition and illegally carrying pieces of weapons. Third.

The court determined three months of investigation. Meanwhile, the detainee will remain in the Temuco Penitentiary Compliance Center.

The arrest of the accused took place on Route S-138 -that connects the town of Tranapuente with the commune of Tirúa-, in a control of Public Order Control (COP) personnel, with the support of Army troops. This, in the context of the State of Exception in the provinces of Malleco and Cautín (La Araucanía Region) and Biobío and Arauco (Biobío Region).

The uniformed officers found the following objects in the vehicle:

  • A Glock 9 millimeter pistol with three magazines and 17 .22 caliber cartridges.
  • A SIG Sauer brand pistol with a magazine and eight 9-millimeter cartridges.
  • One revolver, 70 22 caliber rounds with two magazines.
  • A bulletproof vest and camouflage clothing.
