The rains flooded several areas of Caracas, causing traffic jams due to the volume of water on the roads. There was an accident in the La Planicie tunnel, towards the Center, which partially blocked the road and in Petare the Guaire overflowed through the La Línea sector. In Barinas, a tree caused the Socopó River to overflow, affecting various sectors of the Sucre municipality, with no human losses recorded. The Inameh predicted that the downpours will continue to be registered in the next few hours
From the early hours of the morning of this Thursday, August 10, users on social networks reported the damage caused by the heavy rainfall registered in Caracas and several states of the country, causing the overflow of rivers and the collapse of the streets by the torrent of water that circulates through the road arteries and causes traffic jams.
In Caracas, they warned that the level of the Guaire River rose considerably due to the rains through Bello Monte, but in Petare it did overflow through the La Línea sector, affecting all the homes in the area that are close to the tributary.
Meanwhile, areas such as La Vega, El Paraíso, Sucre Avenue and Andrés Bello Avenue-in Libertador-; Hills of Bello Monte and Las Mercedes -in Baruta-; the Altamira Distributor -Chacao- were affected by the torrent of water that prevented normal vehicular traffic. They also reported how cloudy the sky was in the capital.
The emergency teams remain vigilant even if any eventuality arises.
At the La Rinconada station to take the Ezequel Zamora Railway, it was evident that the rains generated a “waterfall” on the access stairs. On the other hand, there was an accident at the exit of the La Planicie tunnel, towards the Center, due to the overturning of a public transport unit that partially obstructed the road.

The general manager of the National Institute of Meteorology and Hydrology (Inameh), Ángel Custodio, recalled that the month of August is characterized as “a very rainy month” and where it could be said that rainfall intensifies. They estimate, therefore, that they may be above normal.
Custodian indicated in VTV that there is abundant cloudiness in a good part of the country and in the central zone of the country, “quite an atmospheric instability” is registered. He stressed that the intertropical convergence zone is “very active”, which favors the rains.
According to Custodio, the rains will continue in a good part of the country in the next few hours. He also pointed out that tropical wave number 27 will soon enter the east of the country, moving towards the center of the territory and that it will result in rain.
They estimate that there will be rains mostly in the west of the country, the Central North Coastal Region (Aragua, Caracas, Miranda, Vargas, Carabobo); the Western Plains, where there was an alert for the states of Apure and Barinas; the Andean Region, while to the east there are partially cloudy areas
