Camagüey wins the VII National Boxing Series

The selection from Camagüey surpassed that of Havana on Wednesday and won the crown of the VII National Boxing Series, which was held at the Rafael Fortún Hall. The second and third places were occupied by the teams from Havana and Guantánamo.

The people of Camagüey left through the big door due to the victories of Damián Arce (52 kg), Osvaldo Díaz (57 kg), Yosdiel Nápoles (60 kg), Arnaldo Vega (63 kg), Yoenlis Hernández (75 kg), Nelson William ( 81 kg) and Julio César la Cruz (91 kg).

The Havanans won with Billy Rodríguez (48 kg), Dariel Favier Castro (69 kg), Jorge Luis Felimón (86 kg) and Carlos Castillo (over 91 kg).

The first contest of the afternoon was carried out by Cienfuegos (fifth place) and Guantánamo. The southerners put up a fight, but their opponents were better.

The wins went to Joel Oliva (48 kg), Rafael Joubert (60 kg), Jorge Moirán (63 kg), Richard Colón (69 kg), Dany Lafós (75 kg), Arlen López (81 kg), Fernando Cuza (91 kg) and Reinier Herrera (over 91 kg).

In the morning Holguín (sixth place) thwarted the aspirations of Pinar del Río. The winners were supported by the victories of Armando Moreno (48 kg), Darwin Torres (52 kg), Luis Correoso (57 kg), Jairo Munive (63 kg), Denis Pérez (69 kg), Yusmel Ruíz (75 kg), Jorge Soto (81 kg), Carlos Pérez (86 kg) and Freddy Pérez (91 kg).

The first three places in the Seventh National Boxing Series will receive a monetary stimulus, Alberto Puig de la Barca, president of the Cuban Boxing Federation, said last week during the congress in Camagüey. The top place will receive 43,900 CUP, the second 35,500 CUP and the third 25,500 CUP.
