Calderón received more than 54 million pesos in pension as former president, exhibits AMLO

Of the former presidents of Mexico and the world, according to López Obrador, Calderón was “number one” with a pension of 54 million 262,111 pesos, half of what the former president of the United States received, George W. Bush, who received a pension of 22 million 847,184 pesos.

“Look, these were the pensions that the former presidents received: Calderón, ‘number one’, 54 million annual total pension; (George) Bush had 22 million; Sebastian Piñera, from Chile, 10 million; (Gordon) Brown, of the United Kingdom, 3 million 859,000; Colombia, (Álvaro) Uribe, 2 million 460,000 and (José María) Aznar, two million 166,000”, detailed AMLO.

López Obrador also revealed the pensions of the rest of the former Mexican presidents since the period of Luis Echeverría Álvarez.

According to the data that the president presented, Fox received up to 48 million pesos; Zedillo, 37 million; Carlos Salinas, 42 million and Luis Echeverría, 44 million.

The president thus highlighted that during his government the expense for pensions to former presidents was eliminated.

“All that no longer exists in the case of our country,” he said.
