Quintana received 338 of the 470 total votes, while Rossana de Olivera, former president of Inisa, obtained 121 votes. Ten delegates abstained and one did not show up.
Quintana is the director of the program for prevention and addressing addictions of the Ministry of Public Health (MSP) and leads the National Christian Meeting sector in CA.
Manini’s proposal for Quintana to be his running mate was presented in a Zoom meeting on Monday. The announcement took some party members and legislators by surprise, as De Olivera had been mentioned as a possible candidate in the days leading up to it.
An incident occurred when representatives of the electoral board of the Espacio de los Pueblos Libre (EPL) sector, led by Eduardo Radaelli, decided to leave the party’s electoral board.
In the previous days, EPL’s disagreement with Quintana’s election as vice president and his proposed replacement with the former president of Inisa, Rossana Olivera, was already known.
