Cabello: The People’s Killers Will Never Rule This Country Again

Diosdado Cabello: the salary issue is a priority for President Maduro

The first vice president of the Socialist Party of Venezuela (PSUV), Diosdado Cabello, stressed this Monday that the popular rebellion, registered on February 27 and 28, 1989, known as “El Caracazo”, is the consequence of years of repression against a people made invisible by the government of the IV Republic.

«February 27 is a day of popular rebellion, but it is the consequence of years of repression against a people. History claims us, which was written on the 27th and 28th, claims that the people must learn those lessons,” Cabello said from the San Carlos Barracks.

He pointed out that in the face of the neoliberal package imposed during the second government of Carlos Andrés Pérez; the people only saw protest as an option.

Nevertheless; he remembered him, he was repressed by the security organizations at that time.

“Our people had no other option, they did the only thing they could do, claim, protest, but they were repressed,” he stressed.

In this sense, he emphasized that the thousands of disappeared and dead that were registered in those two days, have the signature of Carlos Andrés Pérez.

“They are murderers and they will not rule this country again,” he stressed.

Similarly, he questioned the silence of the international community, which was evident at that time, that none of the international organizations were clamoring for the situation in the country.

“Many of those dead and the disappearance of young Venezuelans have the signature of Carlos Andrés Pérez, there were no human rights there, there was no OAS, UN, or International Criminal Court, none of that,” he asserted.

During the act, Cabello – as a member of the Armed Forces – asked the people for forgiveness for the facts and crimes committed against the people at that time.

“The Armed Forces of that time committed horrible crimes against our people and within my responsibility as a soldier, Bolivarian, Chavista, revolutionary and anti-imperialist, I apologize on behalf of our FANB and we assume historical responsibility,” he pointed out.

“Those deaths of February 27 and 28 are on the conscience of our FANB,” he added.

On the other hand, he stressed that that day, the original constituent power was manifested, which later gave way to the creation of a new Constitution.

“We have this Constitution, which is a consequence of February 27 and 28, because that served as an accelerator of what was happening,” he stressed.
