The candidate of lists 404 (Aire Fresco) and 40 of the National Party, Tomas Casaretto, was elected as the new president of the White Youth, in the elections held this Saturday in the city of Melo (Cerro Largo), by a difference just five votes.
298 conventionalists participated in the elections and Casaretto prevailed with 118 votes over his opponent Nicolás Botana, son of Senator Sergio Botana, who had the support of the other nationalist groups, including Herrerismo, Alianza Nacional, Por la patria and Futuro. National.
The 40 votes in the convention of the 40 list -represented by Minister Javier García and Senator Sebastián Da Silva, among others- added to the 118 of Aire Fresco led by the Presidential Secretary, Alvaro Delgado- were decisive in giving him the victory for Casaretto in the elections in which 298 conventional participants participated.
The white youth directory was thus made up of 8 members of the winning lists and 7 of the rest.
A large part of the white dome was present at the event, including Delgado -who shared a barbecue in a field managed by Senator Da Silva- and the Herrerista leader Laura Raffo who participated in a lunch with leaders of the lists that supported Botana .
Delgado and Raffo are emerging as opponents to dispute the upcoming nationalist presidential internal elections.
The day was intense due to the mobilization of young people from all over the country towards Melo given the parity that was expected in the election.
