Even many of those that were made have construction defects which represent a danger to users.
On the 21st of this month, the president Luis Abinader inaugurated the marginal and elevated Boca Chica, which was already in use, while the roads were finished in the previous days.
The companies responsible for the work are Tecnoamerica, Rizek and Moraunder the supervision of the Ministry of Public Works.
The nucleus of people with disabilities had claimed those responsible for the work, but they were not heard, and they planned to protest during the opening ceremony, so political leaders intervened so that the engineers could resolve the situation.
According to a survey carried out, in addition to the lack of ramps, it was established that some do not communicate from the front as they should be, while others have exits or entrances that endanger users.
Others also connect with the entrances to the sidewalks but no other way out. Some of those built do not have the required inclination for accessibility.
In addition, some present obstacles with the pavement, have steep slopes or unevenness towards the vehicle ramps.
By reporting the situation, Vincent Mejiarepresentative of people with disabilities, deplored the refusal of builders to comply with the regulations that guarantee accessibility and that they have to fight a “battle” every time public works are built.

Another of the residents’ complaints is that the Ministry of Public Works did not contemplate the construction of streets that communicate with the Las Américas Highway and that they are in a terrible state.
