“We deliver houses, you have to turn them into a home,” said the president of the Social Security Bank (BPS), Alfredo Cabrera, this Monday the 13th, during the delivery of 14 homes for retirees and pensioners, located on Cuareim street. 1731, in Montevideo, through the Housing Solutions program. There are between 500 and 600 houses to be delivered or to start construction during this period.
The act in which the keys to the houses were distributed was also attended by the vice-president of the organization, Daniel Graffigna; the directors Araceli Desiderio and Daniela Barindelli; the technical director of Benefits, Silvia Pierri, and the director representing the liabilities sector, Sixto Amaro.
Cabrera assured that providing houses to retirees through the Housing Solutions program is very important for the BPS and explained that, on this occasion, they were delivered in a complex where active and retired people will live together. “We think it’s a great model, in which the oldest are going to be with the youngest,” he said.
He added that this plan, implemented in conjunction with the Ministry of Housing, consists of the BPS awarding basic evolutionary nuclei and, in exchange, that portfolio supplies buildings for retirees in asset complexes.
In addition, in the process, of different levels and stages, that the institution goes through, there are some 300 housing solutions to be delivered as the works are completed and another 300 are to be tendered. “There would be between 500 and 600 in the process of being delivered and beginning to be built,” he specified.
The hierarch stated that there are some 6,000 people registered to receive their home, of which 1,765 are in a position to do so, and that the remaining requests are being studied by the social services of the BPS. Presidency
