Boric proposes that the dialogue between Colombia and the ELN be in Chile

The president of Chile, Gabriel Boric, offered Chile as the venue to restart the dialogue between the Government of Colombia and the National Liberation Army (ELN).

The proposal was made on Thursday during a meeting with the elected vice president of Colombia, France Marquezwho is on a tour of various countries on the continent.

At the meeting, Márquez thanked the President for his “fraternal welcome, as well as his willingness to work for the Peace of Colombia. We value his willingness to work on a new drug policy, against racism, climate change and for gender justice,” he said.

From the University of Chile, Márquez recognized that Boric “has expressed not only his willingness to accompany us in this task of achieving peace, but also offers his home, Chile, as the venue for the peace talks between the Colombian State and the ELN. ».

Márquez considered positive that Boric has expressed his will to work to achieve complete peace for Colombia and the entire region.

The member of Historical Pact He pointed out that the Colombian people are desperate “to live in violence (…) to have to suffer from fear”, and reaffirmed that achieving peace in Colombia is “our main challenge”.

Similarly, he stressed that “those who are living the consequences of this unnecessary armed conflict are the most impoverished populations.”
