Banconal supports budget for 2023 for B/.2,021.1 million

Banco Nacional de Panamá supported its budget for the year 2023, which amounts to B/. B/. 2,021.1 million. During his presentation, the General Manager of the banking institution, Javier E. Carrizo Esquivel, informed that of this total, it is contemplated to allocate B/.1,675.8 million to investments, giving main importance to loan placements directed especially to the private sector.

“With this budget we continue betting on the economic reactivation and the productive sectors of the country, fulfilling our role as executing and financial arm of the State. In that sense, of the total investments, it is expected to disburse B/.1,606.4 million in loan placements, which means 79.5% of the total budget”, emphasized Carrizo.

During the substantiation, the Banconal leader added that B/.345.3 million will be earmarked for operations, while B/.69.4 million was budgeted for the execution of other investments, such as works, construction and equipment.

“As of July 31, 2022, the National Bank of Panama has total assets in the order of B/.15,000.4 million, with a total loan portfolio of B/.5,452.9 million, total deposits of B/.12,057.7 million, obligations for B/.1,557.4 million, other liabilities for B/.272.8 million and a Capital Fund for B/.1,112.5 million”, highlighted Carrizo Esquivel. In this sense, it is necessary to highlight that the profit to this date is B/.94.7 million.

It should be noted that the entity has a renewed Online Banking that is now presented to the public with a friendlier and more interactive design, with a built-in token and security questions for account validation. “With the digitization of its products, the Bank opens up new possibilities for economic sustainability and entrepreneurship,” said Carrizo Esquivel.

During his speech, the general manager pointed out that the entity began operations in 2022 in Guabito and Dolega, in addition to a loan center in La Chorrera. Currently, work is being done on the construction of the new branch in Casco Antiguo and the relocation of the branches in La Concepción (Bugaba), Changuinola and Circunvalación in Chitré. Also, the construction of new branches in La Chorrera, Río Hato, Costa Abajo and Costa Arriba de Colón is contemplated.
