Sinaproc declares green alert in Colón, Darién, eastern Panama and the Guna Yala region

The National Civil Protection System (SINAPROC) informs the population that a Green Alert is declared in Colón, Darien, Guna Yala region and mainly in the Eastern sector of the province of Panama, starting at 6:00 pm, on Thursday the 25th. April 2024.

This preventive measure is based on the forecasts issued by the Institute of Meteorology and Hydrology of Panama (IMHPA) that refer to the favorable atmospheric conditions for the generation of rainy events with significant storms throughout the country.

IMHPA indicates that those accumulated by the rains so far amount to up to 100 ml in some regions, increasing risk levels and the probability of damage in highly vulnerable areas.

In the following hours, an increase in rainfall amounts is expected in the provinces of Colón, Darién, Panama and the Guna Yala region, IMΗΡΑ reports.

Given the declaration of Green Alert, the Emergency Operations Center continues to monitor and monitor weather systems.

Stay informed through official information accounts

Avoid walks on trails, lakes, beaches and rivers.
