The first classic of the 2022 Paulista Championship ended with a 2-1 victory for Santos over Corinthians thanks to the brilliance of a young striker, Marcos Leonardo. The 18-year-old scored both goals for Peixe in the match played this Wednesday (2) at Neo Química Arena, in São Paulo, valid for the 3rd round of the competition.

With this victory, the Vila Belmiro team took the lead in the classification of Group D with 4 points won. Timão, on the other hand, remained at the top of Group A despite the setback.
After a tight first half, in which Corinthians found some spaces in the final minutes, including hitting a ball on the post with Renato Augusto, the home team managed to open the scoring in the 6th minute of the final stage thanks to goals from Jô.
However, when it seemed that Timão was heading towards victory, Marcos Leonardo began to shine. At 19 minutes Marcos Guilherme played for the young shirt 9, who got rid of three markers with a single dribble and finished with a beak to hit cross.
Three minutes later the referee signaled a penalty for Santos, after João Victor fouled Marcos Leonardo inside the area. Shirt 9 went for the charge and guaranteed the victory of Peixe.

The two teams return to the field next Sunday (6), with Santos visiting Guarani and Corinthians facing Ituano.
