In the last hours, the campaign manager of the “Yes” to the repeal of 135 articles of the LUC, Esteban Valenti, posted a message from Astori through a video on his Twitter account.
Astori expresses that on Sunday, March 27, Uruguayans are summoned to pronounce on some fundamental aspects of the life of the country, through a referendum that “calls for reflection and allows study, opinion and government.”
“It is not a confrontation between political parties, it is a contest between how we understand the concepts referring to the practice of freedom and the Republic,” says the former Minister of Economy.
Fundamental aspects at stake
“If there are fundamental aspects of the life of the country at stake, we must have the opportunity to study them in depth and pronounce ourselves rigorously on them,” says Astori.
He adds: “The LUC denied us that possibility, but on March 27, we will have it.”
