The National Civil Protection Coordination of the Federal Government reported that 92 elements of the Army and brigade members are currently working on the rescue of 10 miners who were trapped during a flood that occurred on Wednesday afternoon in three connected wells in a drag mine, located in the community of Agujita, municipality of Sabinas, Coahuila. .
“The work will not stop until its location is achieved, the Government of Mexico guarantees all the necessary resources to carry out search and rescue actions,” the authorities highlighted.
The CNPC, dependent on the Federal Security Secretariat, reported that the flood caused the softening of the walls inside the mine, causing workers to become trapped. He mentioned that at the moment, three miners have already been rescued alive and transferred to the IMSS Hospital in Sabinas, Coahuila, while 10 are still inside; It is worth mentioning that initially it had been reported that It was about nine people trapped.
After the incident that occurred at 1:35 p.m., the federal government deployed personnel to the area to provide support to the state and municipal government, in order to coordinate search actions and achieve the rescue of people who are inside the mine.
“The Government of Mexico through the Secretariat of Security and Citizen Protection (SSPC), the Secretariat of Labor and Social Welfare (STPS), the Secretariat of National Defense (Sedena), the National Guard (GN), the National Commission del Agua (Conagua), the Federal Electricity Commission (CFE) and the National Civil Protection Coordination (CNPC), as well as state and municipal officials, implement strategies that allow the rescue of trapped miners to be carried out, also guaranteeing the safety of the search teams,” said the CNPC.
He indicated that 92 elements of Sedena they work on site; together with staff from the Mexican Institute of Social Security (IMSS); the National Water Commission (Conagua) that has provided 400 meters of hose and four brigade members who join the rescue operations, as well as the extraction of water from the mine.
