The mayor of La Paz, Iván Arias, ruled out setting restrictions in the fourth wave of the pandemic, similar to those that occurred in the previous outbreaks of coronavirus infections in La Paz, because the economic reactivation of the seat of Government must be promoted.

“No (we are going to enter into restrictions), we are in the process of reactivation, we are going to move forward, we are going to launch tomorrow (this Saturday) the city of a thousand colors, we are moving workers, we are moving youth,” he said.

Arias said that the rate of infections in the La Paz city is not high because approximately 90% of the population is vaccinated.

He pointed out that the people who are infected are those who did not receive the immunization.

Likewise, he explained that people who come from other regions of the country and from neighboring municipalities, who have low inoculation rates, are the ones who make infections possible.

In this context, he again asked the Minister of Health, Jeyson Auza, that vaccination be mandatory.

The director of the Departmental Health Service (Headquarters), Mayber Aparicio, said that La Paz has not yet entered the fourth wave. However, he announced the declaration of a health emergency to prevent infections from rising.
