This Tuesday, the National Assembly (AN) approved in second discussion the Law on the Decoration of the Order of the Great Cacique «Guaicaipuro Guapotori», which definitively repeals the previous call «Francis Fajardo” that maintained for many years the vassalage to colonialist values of a symbolic figure of the genocide and extermination of the native people of the valley of Caracas.
The new Cacique Guaicaipuro Order Award, on the other hand, will highlight the value of the Venezuelan indigenous struggle against the invader, and will honor current citizens for their services to science, culture, art and the strengthening of the integral development of the nation. .
The law was proposed on October 4 by the vice president of the Permanent Commission of Indigenous Peoples of the AN, Nicia Maldonado.
