During the course of 2024, the Permanent Commission on Foreign Policy, Sovereignty and Integration of the National Assembly approved the appointment of 25 ambassadors, according to that parliamentary body in its most recent report.
Likewise, the aforementioned commission chaired by the deputy, Timoteo Zambrano, assured that in the last four years the appointment of a total of 66 ambassadors was approved.
It should be noted that this same commission was also in charge of reviewing some draft laws and agreements of an international nature, especially regarding air services and investment protection, both with China and Colombia, actions that Congressman Zambrano described as a reference for future negotiations, according to the National Assembly website.
“These agreements represent a framework to strengthen economic and diplomatic relations with key nations,” said the legislator.
Likewise, the aforementioned commission made progress in preparing the report for the second discussion of the International Cooperation Bill that seeks to strengthen ties between countries and contribute with practical solutions to problems that affect the well-being of people.
Currently, the aforementioned legislative body is working on the Reform Project of the Special Law of the Foreign Service Personnel Statute, whose modifications are being analyzed to improve the administrative legal regime of the Venezuelan foreign service.
Likewise, the commission’s report indicates that it stood out in terms of its work in promoting Venezuela’s interests abroad, by participating in the Latin American and Caribbean Parliament, Parlatino, in the Mercosur Parliament, Parlasur, and in the parliamentary network of the Non-Aligned Movement, NAM.
Finally, another aspect that stands out in the report is the approach that the commission made regarding relations with Spain, after the emergence of the diplomatic crisis with that country, caused by the interference of the Spanish Congress in the internal affairs of Venezuela. . In that sense, last August, the AN approved a project rejecting Spain’s interference.
