An American ship arrived in Uruguay for a "multi-mission" against illegal fishing

The Stone is one of the newest and most technologically sophisticated ships in the US Coast Guard. Partnering with the maritime forces of these nations allows us to identify those who are violating the maritime sovereignty of our partners, fishing migratory species to near extinction and affecting the economic livelihoods of coastal communities that depend on sustainable fish stocks,” he explained.

The Stone’s 2021 visit, had a similar mission on port security and the threats posed by IUU fishing, as well as como to help facilitate safe and legal trade and sea travel in the area.

Colonel Brian Symon, Defense Attaché at the US Embassy in Uruguay, stressed that Stone “has a mission, that of ensure law enforcement so that the oceans are protected from illegal activities of all kinds.”
