The Secretary of the Presidency, Alvaro Delgadopointed out this Thursday that the Gustavo Leal’s visit to the parents of Alejandro Astesiano is a matter that broad front must address now that Leal has gone from being a witness to being investigated in the case.
According to Delgado, Leal was able to clarify his version of events when he made his visit public. However, the Broad Front’s response was insufficient and Leal did not make any relevant statement after his appearance in the media.
The Director of Communication of the Prosecutor’s Office, Javier Benech, has also expressed his concern and has indicated that Leal’s explanation does not rule out the possibility that his actions were intended to obstruct the investigation.
Delgado has questioned whether Leal acted alone or with the support of the Broad Front, and has affirmed that this case represents the deterioration of the political relationship and that it breaks all codes. “Now they do have to express themselves. Perhaps they could wait until today, I would have been very blunt since Monday, yes or no, because this man did not go to buy ticholos at Chui. This man obviously went to do something else that I hope the Justice investigates to the bottom. Pereira summons the leadership of the FA to discuss Leal
The president of the FA, Fernando Pereira, summoned in the last hours leaders of all sectors of the left political force to discuss the arrival of Gustavo Leal to the Astesiano case, after visiting the latter’s parents. Astesiano was sentenced to four and a half years in prison in an abbreviated process that the prosecutor Gabriela Fossati obtained for him.
Pereira is expected to give a press conference on Thursday night.
When Leal’s visit to Astesiano’s parents in the Brazilian border city of Chuí was made public, he said: “Wait until Thursday and you will know the whole truth.
