The Meteorology Directorate confirmed that this Sunday new records of daily minimum temperatures were registered, with several localities in the country where a mark of less than 0 degrees was reached.
For several days, the entry of a major cold front for this weekend had been announced, with a greater incidence during the day on Sunday.
The cold air mass positioned over the region produced a marked drop in temperature, reporting the occurrence of frost in various parts of the country.
According to records from the Directorate of Meteorology and Hydrology, daily minimum temperature records were broken in seven locations.
One of these cities is Mariscal Estigarribia, in the Paraguayan Chaco, where there was a minimum of 0° C (the previous one was 1.4° C in 1962). Similarly, General Bruguez and Captain Meza also had a marked drop in temperature, with -1.0° C and -0.8° C, respectively.
In the town of Puerto Casado, there was a temperature of 3.6° C (the previous minimum was 4.0° C in 2016), while in Pedro Juan Caballero today the thermometer marked 1.8° C (the data previous was 2.8°C).
The last two cities added to the record of new minimum temperature records are Pozo Colorado, with 3.2° C, and San Juan Bautista, with 0.2° C.
