The possibility of adding the country to the bloc that unites the two largest powers after the United States (Russia and China) and emerging powers from Asia, Africa and Latin America, was an objective that the government of Cristina Fernandez de Kirchnerand that later the former president did not disdain Mauricio Macri.
“The Brics are for my country an excellent alternative for cooperation in the face of a world order that has been working for the benefit of a few,” Fernández said Thursday in a letter sent to the Forum of Political Parties of the Brics, which met this Thursday for the morning virtually, and which was read at the meeting by the Argentine ambassador to China, Sabino Vaca Narvaja.
The call -organized by the International Department of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China and carried out remotely from Beijing- was attended by twenty political leaders from member countries of the Brics Group, plus others, such as Argentina, Bangladesh and Senegal.

Argentina’s willingness to join the group of five countries received a gesture of support in the first days of April, after the Minister of Economy of Jair Bolsonaro, Paulo Guedesdeclared to the O’Estado agency that it will promote Argentina as a candidate to join the New Development Bank (NDB), the financial institution created by the BRICS in 2014, based in Shanghai.
In this regard, Fernández affirmed that “the new development bank of the Brics, in which my country could participate, is for me the institutionalization of a new world order focused on development away from financial speculation that has caused so much damage to our countries,” he added.
With the theme “Promoting development through unity and cooperation, and advancing together towards a bright future,” the event was organized by the Communist Party of the People’s Republic of China.
The meeting was opened by the president of China, Xi Jinping, in his capacity as leader of the Communist Party, and then there were interventions by the representative of South Africa for the Union of African States and the Association of Southeast Asian Nations.

For his part, Gioja said in his presentation that “both Brazil and Russia, India, China and South Africa are world powers, including powers that abandoned the capricious qualification of emerging, which some organizations insist on imposing on them, to minimize them and so that they do not compete. with other (powers), who see their leadership threatened”.
