The National Assembly (AN) approved this Tuesday – by a qualified majority – the agreement to commemorate the tenth anniversary of the planting of commander Hugo Chávez, who physically left on March 5, 2013.
During her speech, the deputy to the AN, Noelí Pocaterra, described Chávez as “a special being” who always defended the causes of indigenous peoples.
“Hugo Chávez was constituted in hope, in justice for the indigenous peoples, a being so special, indescribable, a being of such a human dimension that personal destiny did not matter to him,” said Pocaterra, during his speech in the plenary session of this Tuesday.
In this sense, he stated that the connection that Chávez achieved with the people was such, that this was evidenced in the long lines of people who attended the funeral chapel and cried for his physical departure
“When he left, we understood how the people mourned him, because he was linked to the people, a dream, his dream, his commitment, was to do justice to the poor, to indigenous people, to women, to children, to the young people, to field workers”, he stressed.
“Talking about Hugo Chávez is talking about love. It was a great statement, his love for the indigenous people, it was an act of justice, for a people that has been humiliated, mistreated, we have been that, that racism that has existed towards us, ”he added.
The agreement establishes honoring Chávez as a “distinguished, admirable man full of love and loyalty for the people.”
The text, read by the parliamentarian Yajaira Meléndez; It also agrees to continue studying and deepening the legacy of the leader of the Bolivarian revolution as a bulwark of Venezuelans who build a just, free, humane and sovereign homeland.
