The past November 21the general secretary of the Inter-Union Transport Command, José Luis Trocel, stated that the sector plans to increase the minimum fare on urban routes to 25 bolivars, this due to the exchange rate differential that affects transporters to be able to carry out maintenance on the units. and survive.
«The rate that we should be charging should be 60 cents on the dollar, it is what it should be, that helps us maintain the cost structure and the operation of the service, but we understand that it can be a very high burden for the user, so we are asking for a minimum for the urban sector, the minimum route, Bs 25, which does not reach 50 cents according to the Central Bank rate,” he explained.
He insisted that users may be disadvantaged in covering the amount of the fare – an approach made for years by the transport sector – which is why they ask once again for the return of the direct subsidy for Venezuelans.
