Act of July 19 reflected “the isolation and decadence of the regime” of Ortega

In the act of adulation of the dictator Daniel Ortega, on the 43rd anniversary of the popular Sandinista revolution of July 19, the absence of the main allies of the Nicaraguan caudillo such as Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez, of the Cuban regime; and Nicolás Maduro, from Venezuela.

This lack of leftist dictators in Latin America would be a sign of the “isolation and decadence” in which the regime of Daniel Ortega and Rosario Murillo has fallen, even in its main acts such as that of July 19, point out opponents of the Civic Alliance and the Blue and White National Unit (Unab), consulted by Article 66.

“Yesterday’s act, on July 19, celebrated by the Ortega supporters accurately portrays the situation in which the dictatorship finds itself. An act that reflected decadence, that reflected his isolation at the international level in which once again the dictator made use of his anti-imperialist rants, says he (Daniel Ortega), to stimulate his bases, but it is evidently clear that there is an isolation of the dictatorship at the international level”, said Héctor Mairena, of the Political Council of Unab.

Regarding the absence of his ally from Cuba, George West explained that it is fundamentally due to the fact that Cuba is in crisis. They have spent more than eight days where the people have risen up in protest “because they can no longer deal with the situation of extreme poverty in which they are living. The same happens with Venezuela, although there is no protest in the street, they are going through a very big socioeconomic crisis.

“It is notorious that not even regimes allied to the dictatorship of (Daniel) Ortega such as Cuba and Venezuela sent top-level figures; They sent figures to the second level. And this, although it may seem anecdotal, really reflects some distancing that these dictatorial regimes such as the Ortega regime are seeking, because they know that by contaminating themselves with the Ortega-Murillo dictatorship they are only contributing to a greater discredit for themselves,” Mairena said.

Regarding the change of venue for the July 19 act, the opposition member of the Civic Alliance indicated that not even the bases of the Sandinista National Liberation Front (FSLN) believe in the populism of the regime because “they have stolen the struggle of the revolutionaries and They have made a family victory.

“For this reason, and I believe that never again in Nicaragua, they will be able to fill the Plaza (de la Fe) and that is the fear of calling, because they no longer have people who believe the lies and injustices,” he stressed.

The case of Venezuela

The Unab opponent assured that the absence of the Venezuelan dictator, Nicolás Maduro, is due to the fact that the Caracas regime has established some rapprochements with the United States and that coming to Nicaragua “discredits him more and shows his options against democracy.”

“The situation of the regime is pathetic. The only guest who has already become a present figure in the last acts of the dictatorship is the Prime Minister (of Saint Vincent and the Grenadines Ralph Gonsalves) of a country, with all due respect, that is insignificant on the international political scene» , he stated.

The closure to dialogue

In his July 19 message, Ortega again soaked up the story of the assassination of General Augusto C. Sandino by the National Guard, of dictator Anastasio Somoza García, and insisted that said crime was “sponsored by the United States ambassador.” at the time, to rule out negotiating with the US administration. “What dialogue can there be with the devil?”, the Sandinista caudillo wondered.

Mairena and George criticized the regime’s refusal to sit down and talk to find a solution to the social, political, economic and human rights crisis that has plagued the country since April 2018 and has continued to date. “A government with responsibility and respect for the laws are what open space for dialogue,” said West.

Mairena stressed that Ortega said that he is not going to talk with the United States, but according to the opponent, the United States has not proposed any dialogue with the Nicaraguan dictator. She assured that Ortega has always practiced a “hypocritical policy”, both nationally and internationally because he “says one thing and does another.”

“It has been known that the son of the dictatorial couple, Laureano Ortega, has sought a rapprochement with the United States, but hey, Ortega says he is not going to dialogue. Nobody has proposed a dialogue to him, in such a way that he is looking for a lawsuit only by refusing a non-existent proposal. Ortega at the end, and that end is not so far away, he will have to give in because he is repudiated at the international and national level, “said the Unab member.

«They do not believe in dialogues, because dialogue is for responsible men and women, where what is signed must be fulfilled. In March 2019, within the framework of the negotiation table, they signed to guarantee citizen freedoms and nothing at all has been fulfilled,” added Daysi George, from the Civic Alliance.

The opposition explained that the regime has enacted its own anti-democratic laws because they do not respect the citizen. “Their interest is to implant totalitarianism and govern with repression and unfortunately they have the repressive organs in order, the Police stopped caring for citizens and now they are the ones who repress,” she concluded.
