cromo

The Coordinator of the Uruguayan Education Unions (CSEU) denounced “the non-convocation” of the government to the areas of collective bargaining defined by Law 18,508 with a view to the Accountability project.

The unions “demand” the Executive Power and the public education organizations “make an urgent call to give concrete answers” to the demands of the workers in the area.

In a statement, they question the “non-existence of proposals that address the most urgent problems” of public education.

“Sadly, today we see with astonishment that Accountability has been transformed into functional electoral loot for the electoral interests of political parties,” they point out.

In addition, they indicate that have suffered a decrease in wages and elimination of jobsor, in addition to a “fewer teaching hours, a greater number of students per group” and a “lack” of creating positions for teachers and officials.

The CSEU assured that the government has carried out “a policy of discrediting the education unions” and also a “persecution” of teachers, students and civil servants for making use of “their freedom of association.”
