President Luis Abinader requested this Tuesday to the United Nations Security Council (UN) activate your sanctions committee to support the measures taken by some States to help the Haitian authorities to restore order in their country.
By participating in the VII Summit of Heads of State and Government of the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (Celac), held in Argentina, Abinader returned to the issue of the situation in Haiti, highlighting the need for “urgent actions” to guarantee citizens the right to live in peace.
“We urge the formal operation of the sanctions committee established in resolutions 2645 and 2653 of the Security Council of the UNso that the measures that some States have taken unilaterally can be supported by the binding framework of the international right”, expressed the president.

When speaking before presidents of other nations, he stated that the international actions They have been the first steps to help the Haitian authorities to restore order in their country. However, “without that help – from the UN-, we can be sure that we will continue lamenting the sufferings that afflict Haiti”.
Abinader explained that the call of that government to create a military force robust that allows the Haitian National Police better confront criminal organizations.
