Abinader, PRM and PRD remember the birth of Peña Gómez

The Modern Revolutionary Parties (PRM) and Dominican Revolutionary (PRD), separately celebrated the 85th anniversary of the birth of the late political leader José Francis Pena Gomez.

In a mass in honor of Peña Gómez held in Mao, Valverde province, the President of the Republic, Louis Abinadersaid that he is committed to carrying out a government program focused on the welfare of the people, as was the dream of the late leader of the PRDPena Gomez.

Years would be fulfilling this March 6 Peña Gómez.

He assured that his government is investing more than 150 billion pesos in social assistance, such as medical insurance, in improving the health budget, among other initiatives in favor of the Dominican population.

“Since we came to the Government, even in the most difficult circumstances in a century, with a universal pandemic, an economic crisis, the result of that pandemic, and now with a war that makes the panorama more difficult. But what did we do? In terms of health, we gave 2,143,000 new Senasa medical insurances, we doubled and extended direct social assistance, from 265,000 to 1,350,000, and we doubled it as our promise was,” said the President of the Republic in the place.

Also, the PRD commemorated this Sunday the birth of Peña Gómez, with a floral offering placed on the bust of the leader in the National House of that party.

Present at the event were Peña Gómez’s widow, Peggy Cabral; the president of PRD, Miguel Vargas Maldonado; the daughter of the late PRD leader Abril del Pilar Peña Abreu; the party’s electoral delegate, Janet Camilo, as well as other party leaders.

Miguel Vargas Maldonado president of the PRDexpressed his delight at the celebration of the 85th anniversary of the birth of Peña Gómez, whom he defined as an “exceptional man.”

He pointed out that the presence in the National House of the PRD of dozens of leaders of that organization is a reflection of the “process of strengthening and growth” of the party.

“This tribute, more than a responsibility, is an enthusiasm, it is a love that reflects his PRD family to his great historical leader who is Jose Francisco Pena Gomez”, Vargas Maldonado said.

He assured that the leadership built by the deceased leader led him to become one of the “greatest mass leaders” that the Dominican Republic had.
