During the night of Saturday, January 11, Jesús Gabriel Useche Moncada, 19, was charged with terrorism; his relatives fear that he may have been transferred to the Aragua Penitentiary Center, known as Tocorón. The Human Rights NGO of Los Llanos Venezuela (Fundehullan Vzla) recalled the responsibility of the State to protect the health and life of detained people, indicating that “we urge the Venezuelan authorities to guarantee the right to health and life of people who are detained (art 43 CRBV) the “state will protect the lives of people who are deprived of their liberty.”

A minor detained
The Vinotinto Movement Civil Association reported the arrest of Jesús Gabriel Useche Moncada, 19 years old, and a 16-year-old boy, in Cabudare, Palavecino municipality, last Thursday, January 9, when they were traveling near an opposition demonstration and were intercepted by troops of the Bolivarian National Guard (GNB).
The teenager arrested along with Useche would also have been charged with terrorism, after his presentation on the afternoon of January 11, he was assigned to the Pablo Herrera Campins Social Education Center, in El Manzano, Lara state.
He is the only teenager detained for political reasons, according to the NGO Foro Penal. In December 2024, all minors detained in the post-election context were released. According to the NGO, Useche is being held in Detachment 112 of the GNB, located in the La Montañita sector of the Palavecino municipality.
