Although the event occurred weeks ago, it was in the session of the Municipality of Nueva Palmira last Tuesday the 30th that the violent act was put on the table. It had been kept in reserve until councilman Antonio ´Topo´ Cosati (FA) consulted the mayor on the subject, and what measures had been taken.
Callero replied that once the six women reported the fact, the “verbal abuse” they had received from the driver, and that they mentioned that this person, among other facts, “played with the cell phone while driving”, he suspended it “for a week”. And he has already returned to activity.
Cosati, the councilor who made the consultation, considered that the sanction was “little” according to the magnitude of the workers’ demonstration, to which the mayor understood that the sanction ordered was appropriate, and upon returning to work he had been carrying out a behavior acceptable.
Privately, people wondered if the sanction had been light because the driver was a militant from sector 904904, to which Mayor Callero belongs.
The trucks for the administration’s service are contracted directly, without a call for bids.
