A 31-year-old crew member of a fishing boat had to be evacuated this Monday in a helicopter, due to an abdominal condition suffered when the ship operated 500 kilometers from the coast of Mar del Platainformed the Argentine Naval Prefecture (PNA).
The sailor, a member of the crew of the “Xeitosiño” freezer ship, had decompensated on board and required urgent medical attention.
Sources from the Argentine Naval Prefecture (PNA) indicated that the emergency was reported by the captain of the vessel, who informed the Mar del Plata Maritime Traffic Center that the man had “acute pain in the abdomen and vomiting.”
From a radio consultation, a doctor from the force diagnosed that it could be “a picture of acute abdomen and appendicitis”, for which he arranged for the man to be evacuated urgently, to be treated at a health center.
Specialized personnel left around 6:30 am from the Military Base located in Camet, aboard the PA 14 helicopter, to the area where the ship was operating, approximately 490 kilometers from the port of Mar del Plata. What’s more, a PNA plane was ordered to join the operation to provide logistical support offshore.
Once over the ship, the helicopter deployed and the rescue health basket descended in which the crew member was located, who was put on the aircraft. The man received first aid there, while the arrival of an ambulance was coordinated for his transfer from the airport.
After the landing of the helicopter, the sailor was referred to a Mar del Plata clinic, where he remained hospitalized.
This is the second operation of these characteristics in less than 24 hoursafter on Sunday afternoon, a crew member of the fishing boat “Xin Shi Ji 91”, who had suffered a stroke on board, 270 kilometers from the coast, was air-evacuated from the same PNA delegation.
