MIAMI, United States.- A 16-year-old Cuban adolescent died this Wednesday at the Paquito González Cueto Pediatric Hospital in Cienfuegos, according to the institution in a statement published on its Facebook social network page.
The young Claudio Moisés Vera Gallart arrived at the health center last week (July 14 at 8:35 pm), according to the official document, with “a diagnostic impression of nonspecific febrile syndrome.” The patient showed “an almost favorable evolution” until Tuesday.
The informative note assures that when he began to present signs and symptoms that hemodynamically compromised his health, he was transferred to the intensive care unit, where he died this Wednesday at 5:40 pm.
The Cuban hospital explained in the statement that Vera Gallart underwent an IgM test to detect dengue, and the result was low fluorescence.
“At the request of the patient’s family, no autopsy is performed, which makes it impossible to determine the precise cause of his death. Clinically, cause of death is defined as septic shock from a proven source of infection.
“For the Cuban health system, care for infants and adolescents is a priority,” said the hospital’s management, which also offered its condolences to the young man’s family.
