The man of Italian nationality who was shot this Friday near the toll station of the Las Américas highway, while traveling in his vehicle, was a businessman who owns several businesses in Boca Chica, according to reports.
The authorities are investigating the motive for the murder of the foreigner, who was pursued by unknown persons who were traveling in another vehicle.
However, sources linked to the uprisings that are being carried out have revealed to this medium that, despite the fact that the Dominican identity card that the victim possessed identifies him as Lucas Garafalo, 49, the National Police file system records the numbering of that document in the name of Darison Dario López.
Furthermore, the source indicates that the Italian had been submitted in the Dominican Republic for matters related to drug trafficking in 2021.
He maintains that within the investigations that are carried out, it is about determining if the Hyundai vehicle, Sonata model, in which he was traveling in a west-east direction at the time of being attacked, corresponds to one that he had rented in the Montecristi municipality.
The body of the foreigner was raised yesterday by police authorities in the company of a forensic doctor and then transferred to the National Institute of Forensic Science (Inacif), to carry out the rigorous studies in these cases.
The investigations are being carried out by the Central Directorate of Criminal Investigations (Dicrim) of the National Police. So far no official version has been offered regarding the event.
