The Minister of Industry, Commerce and MSMEs (Micm), Víctor “Ito” Bisonóhighlighted during his visit to the Agricultural Fair of San Francisco de Macorísthat the government of the president Louis Abinader works to continue strengthening the productive chains so that the Dominican family does not lack food.
He stressed that, despite the great global price crisis, the problem of supply chains and the post-pandemic impact, aggravated by the conflict between Russia and Ukrainethe country maintains an “enviable” stability and sustainable economic growth driven by the reactivation of the national industry and the free zones.
For Bisonó, the food security of the Dominican people is a government priority and he asked citizens to see what is happening in the world: “we are on the right track and we must continue like this. The markets, supermarkets, colmados and warehouses have food supplies and it is a clear sign of stability”, he said.

He stressed that the northeast region is characterized by enterprising and hard-working people. “I am excited to see how the rice fields remain operational and in full production capacity, as well as how we continue to grow with the export of cocoa, these are key products that help develop agribusiness in the northeast,” he said.
Lastly, he mentioned the launch of the Digital Productive Chain Program (PEPD), to finance the development of digital tools, in order to connect MSME suppliers and providers of goods and services with large industries. Through this program of MICM Projects that impact the areas of inventory, logistics, recycling, energy efficiency, marketing and post-sale processes can receive financing.
