Movement “One Uruguay” analyzes being a political party

Uruguay

The movement called «A single Uruguay”, is analyzing the possibility of becoming a political party, to present itself in the next elections. Its national table met last Saturday in the department of Maldonado to “listen” to the problems of the neighbors.

Guillermo Franchi, a member of the movement, said that “this is a recurring discussion, we are analyzing it and it is always within the possibilities”, in relation to the transformation of the party. He noted that “because many of the claims are often not even answered, it is good to try to go that way to see if we can make them understand what the concerns are, especially in the productive sector,” Frachini explained at a press conference.

The “See you at the polls” of “Un solo Uruguay”

The movement records its birth under the wing of a group of agricultural producers. The initiative and movement was born in order to demand measures for the sector from the then President of the Republic, Tabaré Vázquez (2015-2020). Some of its members even had an altercation with Vázquez himself about the Ministry of Livestock. One of the phrases they said to the then president was: “See you at the polls.”

At first they were called the “Self-summoned”. Subsequently, they carried out events in the department of peach, with a good audience turnout. During the years 2018 and 2019, the movement already constituted as Un solo Uruguay, carried out several acts. During 2019, it was attended by Lacalle Pou, who at that time was competing as a candidate for the presidency of the country.
